About PDF to JPG
Save each page of a PDF as a separate image. Choose JPG for small files or PNG for the sharpest text, then pick a resolution: 72 DPI for screens, 150 DPI for general use or 300 DPI for printing. All images can be downloaded together in one ZIP.
Which resolution should you choose?
The resolution (DPI, dots per inch) decides how sharp and how large each page image is.
- 150 DPI (default) gives clear images for screens, presentations, emails and social media. An A4 page becomes about 1,240 × 1,750 pixels.
- 300 DPI is print quality and keeps small text sharp when you zoom in. Files are about four times bigger. Use it for printing, posters and images you will crop.
- 72 DPI makes small, quick previews and thumbnails.
JPG or PNG?
Next to the Convert button you can choose the image format. JPG is best for pages with photos and keeps files small. PNG keeps text and lines perfectly crisp with no compression marks, which suits pages that are mostly text, diagrams, charts or screenshots, but files are larger.
Every page of the PDF becomes its own image, named in page order, so a 12-page PDF gives you 12 images. Download them one by one or all together as a ZIP file.
Common uses and tips
- Share one page on social media or in a chat without sending the whole PDF.
- Put a page into a presentation or website, where images are easier to place than PDFs.
- Only need some pages? Take them out first with Extract pages from PDF to save time.
- Want the photos inside the PDF, not whole pages? Extract images from PDF saves the original pictures at their full quality.
- Going back? Turn images into a PDF again with JPG to PDF.
Frequently asked questions
What resolution should I choose?
150 DPI suits most uses. Choose 300 DPI if you need to print the images or zoom in on small text.
How do I get all the pages at once?
When there's more than one page, a Download all (ZIP) button appears with every image inside.
Can I get only the pictures inside the PDF?
Yes. Use our Extract Images from PDF tool to save the embedded pictures instead of whole pages.
Will the text in the images be editable?
No. Each page becomes a picture, so the text can be seen but not edited or searched. To edit the text, convert the PDF to Word instead.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
If the PDF needs a password to open, remove the protection first with Unlock PDF (only for files you are allowed to open), then convert it to JPG.
